Iconic sound - Horror film

SUDDEN PITCH AND TONE CHANGES
A pitch dramatically changing to either very low music or high music can often frighten people a lot. Whether they realise or not, their heart race can increase and as they worry they can often become chilled. A good horror movie, if gripping gives a good feeling of worry.

VOICES IN THE BACKGROUND
Voices in the background can feel threatening and can feel as if it is messing with your head. The quiet use of a voice can make people feel more scared and victimised and even as if it is just in their head as they are paranoid. By picking up on small details like that people start to panic more.

ONE INSTRUMENT
The use of one instrument is often used as a form of complimenting the fact that a character is alone and isolated with no one around them. This, to the audience enhances the fact that they are by themselves with no one around them to support or rely on for help.

CLASSICAL MUSIC
Classical music, often slow and high pitched helps to build a lot of tension through out a film. It is thought to be more scary as when it suddenly increases, there is a build up to either a jump scene or nothing at all leaving the audience more paranoid.
